The Wizard of Oz

I was born and raised in an area of New York City called Ozone Park. Local residents referred to it, as OZ (oh zee). OZ was not an Emerald City nor did it have a yellow brick road leading to it. It was in fact, a blue-collar community of mostly patriotic people. OZ, unlike Oz, did not rely on a wizard for guidance. We relied on good old-fashioned wisdom. I think Dorothy and her entourage would have liked Ozone Park. They would have found an answer to their quests there. For instance the…See More

America Rising

America RisingThe inability to understand what the, so called, Tea Party movement is all about, seems to be epidemic among entrenched left wing politicos and the mainstream media. As a result, they tend to disregard, ridicule and fear what they don’t understand. They see ordinary, everyday Americans attending events in ever growing numbers but ignore what we are saying. Aristocratic arrogance has rendered them incapable of defining who we are or what we believe in.They have failed to realize…See More

Three For Three

Three For ThreeIn more that forty years of political participation, I have, from time to time, entered the political arena as; a candidate, campaign manager, paid politicalconsultant, political strategist and campaign worker. And during those years,it has become clearly evident that there are three fundamental standards thatmust be meet in order to wage a successful political campaign and satisfy theneeds of the voter. To meet these requirements candidates must – Be sincere, establish a bond…See More

Bad Legislation

Bad LegislationFiscal irresponsibility, unfair taxation, over-regulation and a callous disregard for personal freedoms; what do they have in common? They have all contributed to areduction in the quality of life in America and they are all the result of badlegislation. When it comes to bad legislation we have no one to blame but ourselves. We have elected Legislators whose only concern is how the legislation they sponsor and supportwill impact their careers. They have little or no regard for how…See More

The American Soldier

The American Soldier“I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps”. These words are from “The Battle Hymn of The Republic” and reflected the sentiment of soldiers on the battle line in one ofthe most horrific wars in American history. What did they find in those“righteous sentences”, perhaps a reference to the character of other soldiers? And what is a soldier? In its generic form, a “soldier” is one who takes uparms in defense of his or her country and includes all branches of…See More

Experience

ExperienceA tried and true tactic often used by incumbent political candidates seems to be in play again this year. We’ve all heard it before, it usually surfaces as anearly indication of desperation in the campaign of a less than popularincumbent - it’s the “E” word. When an incumbent is unwilling or unable toadequately address the important issues facing the American voter he generallystarts to talk about the virtues of “Experience”.In the race for the 7th Congressional district in North…See More

Negative Campaigning

“I Need That Senate Seat”Apparently fear has entered the fray in the race for the Senate seat in the 9th District. In a desperate attempt to derail the conservative grassrootsmovement’s support of the Thom Goolsby Campaign, Michael Lee has shifted to aridicule based campaign. Instead of discussing the issues in spirited debate,Lee and his operatives have taken to Television, the Internet and mailboxeswith a cheap tactic that is demeaning to both Mr. Lee and the Senate seatitself. Mr. Lee…See More
