Tomey pulls out of race for State Senate

"WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Wilmington City Councilwoman Kristi Tomey announced Friday that she would withdraw from the State Senate race.

Tomey said she would run for the seat, currently held by Julia Boseman, in January.  She entered the race with the intent to pursue the seat as an Independent.

The city councilwoman had to collect nearly 6,000 signatures to join her Democratic and Republican counterparts on the ballot.  She had almost half of the signatures needed."
